Skin conditions

Clean, healthy skin makes us look and feel good and reflects our internal health. Modern medicine uses medications and repeated external therapies to suppress skin problems, and traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) goes to the root of the problem and cures without future relapses. In the TCM approach, pathological factors are represented by earthly elements. The imbalance of any or some elements can result in the unique characteristics of skin conditions. They can manifest as acne, eczema, or psoriasis, to name a few.

At ACA, our experienced acupuncturists combine acupuncture and herbal medicine to treat the root issues based on a holistic approach. Our goal is to find and treat the imbalance of each patient so skin conditions can be cleared from within.

Acne

Acupuncture for acneAcne is a skin condition when your hair follicles become plugged with oil and dead skin cells. It causes whiteheads, blackheads, or pimples. Acne is most common among teenagers, though it affects people of all ages. It can leave scars and affect one’s self-esteem if not treated.

In Traditional Medicine (TCM), acne is commonly a sign of pathogenic heat in the lungs and intestines. TCM’s approach to treating acne is to cool the heat, cleanse the lungs, and detoxify the intestines, which will externally heal the condition.

At ACA, our experienced acupuncturists combine acupuncture and herbal treatment to treat the root of acne issues and restore clean and healthy skin.

Eczema

Acupuncture for eczemaEczema is a subtype of dermatitis. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), skin and lungs belong together because the skin is like an outer lung with pores that breathe and exchange substances with the outside world. The strong correlation between eczema accompanied by respiratory ailments often confirms the connection.

At ACA, our experienced acupuncturists combine acupuncture and herbal medicine to improve internal organ functions and clean the pathological factors from the inside to clear eczema on the outside.

Psoriasis

Acupuncture for psoriasis

Psoriasis is an autoimmune disorder of the skin. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), internal and external factors cause psoriasis. Change of emotions is the primary internal factor, and external factors can come from one or multiple earthly elements. E.g., wind, damp, cold, heat, etc.

At ACA, our experienced acupuncturists diagnose psoriasis based on TCM principles. Different colors of skin lesions, forms, syndromes, tongue picture, and pulse condition guide us to develop a treatment plan to treat the root causes and clear the skin.
